This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Bangor, ME on Aug. 14, 1856. Taylor settled in San Francisco in 1884 and began her art studies at the School of Design under Yelland and Kunath. Further study was had with Franz Schwartz in Chicago, Mme. Laforge in Paris, and in Boston, New York, and Munich. She was commissioned to paint a porcelain vase for the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893; the vase was exhibited the following year in San Francisco at the Midwinter Int'l Expo. After her art studies in 1895, she established a studio on Post Street which was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake. She exhibited at the PPIE of 1915 and after the fair made several copies in oil of the murals done by Frank Brangwyn for the exposition. Taylor was active in the local art scene until the early 1930s. A spinster, she died in San Francisco on Dec. 23, 1944. Working on ivory, her forte was eye miniatures. Exh: Sequoia Club (SF), 1909; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909 (gold medal); Keramic Club at Palace Hotel (SF), 1910.
