The following biography has been provided by Mym Tuma, the artist (aka Marilynn Thuma) on July 2, 2003.
Mym Tuma was born in suburban Chicago in 1940. She traces her artistic routes back to her paternal grandfather, a pattern maker from Pilsen. As a child she was inspired by a sense of form to design clothing for herself and her dolls. These early creations sparked a lifelong love affair with the arts that eventually led her to Northwestern University, where she earned her BA and won a sc (showing 500 of 3126 characters). |
