Terpsikhorov was born in St. Petersburg in 1890. He studied at Konstantin F. Yuon's and Vasili N. Meshkov's studios in Moscow 1907-10; and at the Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under Nikolai Kasatkin, Apollinari Vasnetsov, A.S. Stepanov and Konstantin Korovin 1911-17.
From 1917 until 1921 or 1922 he did military service, following which he settled in Moscow. In 1921 Terpsikhorov began producing the Windows of RosTA large short-run posters put up in the (showing 500 of 1967 characters). |
