Illustrator and designer Norman Todhunter, son of artist Francis Todhunter, is particularly noted for his work designing numerous United States postal stamps. Todhunter was one of the artists instrumental in encouraging the post office to produce the more colorful stamps we enjoy today, and he was also the creator of several memorable designs.
In the 1950s, the Post Office Department was slowly acquiring facilities to print more complex and colorful stamps. In 1957 an engraved stamp pictu (showing 500 of 2267 characters). |
