The following is from the artist, February 2004:
Rose Thomas was born in Texas in 1959 and grew up in Wisconsin and Colorado. Having spent most of her youth living in rural Wisconsin with virtually no exposure to galleries or museums, and where the visual arts were not emphasized in the schools, Thomas instead concentrated her early artistic efforts on music. She studied the piano, guitar, and voice and was active in school chorus throughout her high school years.
