Eclectic in his approach to painting, his work is mainly influenced by the primitive form of expression of the French Fauve, in particular by Georges Rouault. Born on June 24, 1927 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he became a scholar, historian and artist, founding the art museum at Arizona State University, which he directed for 25 years. He continued to create at least 120 paintings in his Scottsdale, Arizona studio after retiring from the university.
He also assembled a sizeable collecti (showing 500 of 704 characters). |
