The following information was submitted in March 2006 by Wendy Weigman, great-niece of the artist.
Ruth Tillman was born in Lakewood, Ohio. She was a student at the Pratt Institute. Ruth studied under Ralph Helm Johonnot and she may have met him at Pratt or later in California where her family held property in the Monterey area .
