| A portrait painter and illustrator of children's books, Sally Tate was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania and lived in Westport, Connecticut. She was a student at the Vesper George School of Art and the Parsons School of Design. Her teachers included Bernard Keyes, Heinrich Moore and Jose Pillon.
Sally Tate was author and illustrator of "The Furry Bear", "The Wooly Lamb" and other stories for children and also gave lectures.
