| Painter. Born in Marble Rock, IA on May 27, 1872. Truax was educated at Breckenridge, MN and served as postmistress there from 1893-1901. She then studied at the AIC (1907-09) and privately with Mucha, Howard Pyle, and J. Sorolla. She moved to San Diego in 1912 and by the late 1920s was teaching at the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery. A spinster, Truax was active in San Diego until her death in nearby National City on Sept. 26, 1959. Her work includes still lifes, miniatures, and landscapes.
