Artist's Statement:
"I see my work as an active transformation of the santero tradition, which was established in New Mexico nearly three centuries ago. At its core, most of my work is religious, however, what you see are interpretations that reflect my own individuality and creative vision."
"My imagery is often more modern and bold than what the perceived notion of a santero would be. My work defies easy definition, and it is my intent that the pieces themselves provide the narrative, one that speaks to the far-reaching issues of contemporary Hispanic society." |
