| | Born in Canada of English parents on Oct. 31, 1876. Tanner spent his childhood in Elgin, IL. By age 17 he was an illustrator for David C. Cook Publications. He studied at the AIC, with William M. Chase in NYC, and Tarbell in Boston before moving to Riverside, CA about 1914. In 1924 he moved to Hollywood, CA where he worked as a draftsman for 35 years for architect Vincent Palmer.
