The following information was submitted by Jon Herman in May of 2006: All information provided by an exhibition catalog from the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences(now the Chrsyler Museum) on September 4-27, 1964, entitled Recent Paintings by Walter Thrift, with a foreward by Frank Getlein, Art Critic for the Washington Evening Star
Born in High Point, North Carolina in 1922
A self-taught artist, Walter Thrift turned to painting as a full time profession in 1958.
