Born in York Harbor, Maine in 1909, he painted figure, still life, land-and townscapes.
According to his portfolio drawings, Thorne studied at the National Academy of Design in 1931-1932. He exhibited at the Feragil Galleries, New York City.
He died in 1986 in Manchester, Connecticut.
