| | Born in Chicago, IL on June 30, 1900. Torrance began his career as an architect studying under his father and at Columbia University. During the 1920s he studied at the PAFA and the Beaux Arts School of Design in NYC, and then worked as an architect in New York and Baltimore. In 1930 he and his brother, James, moved to California and settled in Marin County. He abandoned architecture and for many years operated the Torrance Art Gallery in San Anselmo. Moving to Santa Cruz, CA in 1982, he died there on March 15, 1985. Exh: Marin Society of Artists; SWA. | Source:
