The following is based on information from the obituary of the artist in the New York Times, December 18, 2000:
William Thon, an American landscape painter and watercolorist who continued to work after macular degeneration had left him legally blind, died at his home in Port Clyde, Maine on December 6 at age 94.
Thon was born in Brooklyn, studied briefly at the Art Students League in Manhattan but was largely self-taught. In World War II, when he served in the Navy, his seascape (showing 500 of 2277 characters). |
