John Clarke Uren was born June 1st, 1845 in Truro, Cornwall,
England. He was the son of a picture framer and gilder on Lemon
Street inTruro. As part of his education, he won a free
studentship and a full certificate for education at the Penzance School
of Art.
His first picture sent to London was purchased at the Dudley Gallery in
London. He went on to exhibit at the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic
Society’s Exhibition and the Plymouth Exhibition, in addition (showing 500 of 2167 characters). |
