|  Alfred E. R. Van de Velde was born in Bruges, Belgium on July 13, 1889.
Van de Velde studied at the Royal Academy in Bruges and Antwerp Institute of Art. He appears to have arrived in southern California at the onset of WWII.
He was active in both La Jolla and Laguna Beach and a member of their art associations.
He died in La Jolla on January 16, 1985.
