Bartholomeus Johannes Van Hove, a Dutch painter of large-scale structures, especially churches, in townscapes, was trained by his father, who was a gilder and frame maker. He was also trained by Joannes Henricus Albertus Antonius Breckenheijmer (1772-1856), a painter of stage scenery; and at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague.
He succeeded Breckenheijmer as resident painter at the Hague theatre, the Koninklijke Schouwburg, where he became renowned for his b (showing 500 of 2429 characters). |
