This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter known for vivid colors and stylized female figures, landscapes and floral still lifes, Betsy Vincent is prolific, painting about 300 works a year.  However, in 1986, most of her work was destroyed by fire.  She said that all of her paintings from college forward were in that calamity, but expressed only thankfulness that no one was hurt.

Vincent showed early art talent.  Her mother was a professional artist and art teacher.  Betsy earned a BFA degree in Painting and Design from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 1961 and continued to paint after graduation.  She also took graduate seminars in painting, sculpture, and printmaking at Radcliffe College.

In 1995, the Concord Massachusetts Art Association had a Betsy Vincent retrospective, the Association's only single artist exhibition held that year.  Of her work, the Association Director said: "It's not often that we do a one-person show, but I was intrigued because Vincent worked so hard, having lost a large body of work in a fire. She is an incredible colorist.  There is a great joie de vivre in her work."

Henri Matisse is a major influence on Vincent's painting style in which she juxtaposes rich patterns and obtains bold, saturated hues by building layers of paint.

Vincent is a member of the Copley Society of Boston, a Distinguished Artist Member of the Concord Art Association since 1989, and an Associate Member of the New England Watercolor Society.  She has served two terms on the Board of the Scottsdale Artist School and has served on the Board of the Western Artsts Associates of the Phoenix Art Museum.

Her studio is in her home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
