Biography from Willow Gallery:
Bobby Valdez is a truly one-of-a-kind glass artist. After being confined to a body cast as a result of sustaining major injuries while working as a carpenter, Valdez discovered the incredible and fascinating dynamics of fused glass. A natural progression, Bobby first created realistic buildings and landscape scenes out of glass, eventually moving on to vessels, bowls, and other decorative pieces. After many painstaking hours, Bobby has created new techniques enabling him to fuse together the best qualities of ceramics and glass blowing and making them truly a style of his own.

Bobby works alone, choosing to keep his technique private and personal. His distinctive signature of a blue triangle, representing his three children, can be seen on each of his pieces.

"Once firing is complete, I will wash and clean each piece of art, holding it up in the California sunshine. It will go from my hands to your home."

Bobby was a Niche Award Finalist in 2004, and a First Place winner in the 1998 and 2000 Del Mar Fair. He has received several honors by the Art Glass Association of Southern California and his glass vessels can be found in private collections throughout the country.
