Landscape painter, etcher. Born in Fayette, MO on March 1, 1857.
Vivian moved to California with her family in the early 1870s. Settling in Sacramento, she studied at the Crocker Art Gallery under Wm F. Jackson. She continued at UC Berkeley and at the Mark Hopkins Institute under Mathews, Joullin, and Tilden.
Continuing in Paris in 1897, she studied at Académie Colarossi and Grande Chaumière, and with Charles Lazar in England. Upon returning to California in 1900, she was (showing 500 of 1436 characters). |
