From a newspaper article in the Youngstown Vindicator of October 6, 1957:
Mrs. Van Gent was born in Holland in 1925 and began to paint at the age of 10. From 1940 to 1945 she studied at the Art Academy in the Hague, and concurrently learned stained glass making in Maastricht.
In 1946 she came to the United States and with encouragement from Alfred Stieglitz, made her way around the country painting impressions. She did as many as three water-colors a day, supp (showing 500 of 1120 characters). |
