A founding member of Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, an Italian abstract art movement, Emilio Vedova was born in Venice. He was "known for his sweeping, energetic abstract works." In 1960, he received a grand prize at the Venice Biennale. He was also Diorector in Salzburg, Austria from 1965 to 1969 of the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts.
