| Esteban Valle was born in Nicaragua, immigrated to the United States at age 9, competed in the '68 and '72 Olympics as a race-walker, and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute.
But he said his real development as a painter came from studying the watercolors of Andrew Wyeth.
Esteban Valle was a contemporary western painter with subjects of rural landscapes, horses, attractive cowgirls, ghost towns, wild flowers, wildlife (no hippos) done in sort of a Richard Schmid type of brush work. Some of his paintings have abstract backgrounds.
Esteban Valle was most active in Nevada in his later years and died in Reno on December 27, 2004.
