Biography from Bruce Palmer Galleries:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Javier Vilato (1921-2000) was a nephew and close companion of Pablo Picasso. A Catalan, he enjoyed a long and successful career in the art capitols of Europe, where his work is widely held by major museums. He has been described as “Barcelonais of birth, Andalusian of sensitivity and Parisian by adoption.”
As well as his widely known modernist paintings, he also illustrated works of Literature including Poetry by Andree Chedid and Antonio Porchia. |
