| | Born in Centerville, IA on Dec. 3, 1904. During the 1930s Vaught studied at the Los Angeles Art Institute, and, after serving in WWII, at Otis Art Institute (1946-51). He was a resident in Whittier, CA during the 1940s and 1950s, and a curator at the Whittier Art Gallery. He died in Los Angeles on Feb. 28, 1987.
