The following is from the artist whose web site is

After completing degrees in music and psychology at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Lynette Vought began her formal artistic training as an apprentice to sculptor Frank James Morgan in San Diego, California. She continued her studies at Idaho State University and Ferris State University. Lynette, born in Flint, Michigan, has been working professionally since 1984. From 1999, she has been a drawing instructor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

She has participated in many group shows including the Hoyt National Art Show and the Cooperstown National. She has been featured in one-woman shows at Northeastern Illinois University and at Marywood Convention Center in Grand Rapids, MI. She has earned several awards for her work, including Best of Show at the State of the Arts Competition and the Northern National Arts Council Award. She is currently an instructor of drawing at Ferris State University and lives with her husband and son in Rodney, rural Michigan.

Since I often experience and interpret life in narrative terms, I choose to paint narratively. I compose pictures using elements as symbols that function as building blocks of a story. The viewers reaction and interpretation is the defining moment for the work. As the artist, I choose the set of elements to suggest a collective meaning. Every viewers interpretation of these particular sets of symbols adds to the collective history of the piece, as well as to the mythology of our time.

I became interested in some of the interpretations I have heard for my paintings and decided to include them in a book, The Modern Myths Project. This is a work in progress. As I produce new paintings, I add to the book and ask those I meet to tell me the story that they see. The book has become a repository of the seeds for contemporary myths.
