This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Sonoma, CA on Dec. 8, 1850 in the Casa Grande, the first dwelling in Sonoma and the official residence of his father Mariano Vallejo. The younger Vallejo was educated at the College of Santa Clara and in the 1890s took up painting. His studio-home in Sonoma was the old Spamar home at 704 Dolores. By 1911 he was in the liquor business and had been married twice. He spent many years writing a history of California based on his close association with his father, but the book was never published. His rare works include coastal scenes, landscapes, and missions. His last home was in San Francisco where he died on Oct. 5, 1923. In: Society of Calif. Pioneers; Vallejo Home State Park (Sonoma).
