1907-1979. Painer. Born in Lapog, Phillipines on June 17, 1907. Artistically inclined at an early age, Vallangca began sketching the rice fields, birds, trees as a child of seven. After moving to California in 1927, he studied at the CCAC, and under Bufano, John Garth, and Diego Rivera. During the 1930's he worked as a freelance artist, began exhibiting locally, and contributed murals to the GGIE of 1939. in 1945, he obtained a license to practice as a chiropractor and while working in this capacity, painted as a hobby. His work includes portraits, landscapes, and street scenes from San Francisco. Dr. Vallangca died in SF on June 9, 1979. Exhibited:SFAA 1936, WWAA 19 |
