Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data compared to the extensive information about American artists.

The following information was compiled by Andrea Lynes:

1) On the Kultur DVD "Russian Painters: The Impressionist Years," the narrative notes: "Sergei Vinogradov was a leading Moscow Impressionist whose painting offers an excellent reflection of the original evolution of the Russian School of Impressionism...Vinogradov produced a large number of subjectless genre works depicting peasant figures. In 1910, Vinogradov gave an interesting harmonious interpretation of the theme of the Crimea in ringing tones."
Later, discussing the Moscow School of Impressionism, the narrative mentions the "evolution" of the RSOI again, noting that the paintings of Vinogradov, Stanislav Zhukovsky, and Konstantin Korovin all underwent similar "metamorphoses:" their work acquiring a "neo-romantic tinge" and becoming more colorful after 1910.

A couple of other painters - Vassily(ev) Kolyenov or Kolmenov and Avram Tartikov, Tatrikov or Patrikov(?) - whose names can't be found elsewhere, are also mentioned. The former is described as the head of the landscape studio at the Moscow School of Painting, and a teacher of all major Russian Impressionists. The DVD is listed as D2198. There is no copyright date or other credits on the DVD.

2) On the website www.gelos.ru within the description of a painting by Olga Alexandrovna Romanov, Grand Duchess Olga (1882 - 1960), it mentions that S. Vinogradov was one of her teachers.
