This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Theodore Villa paints Native American artifacts with an obvious attention to detail. The often large scale vibrant works suggest the brilliance of beadwork and the richness of leather, showing motion in the sway of fringe and feathers.
Villas mastery of watercolor technique often leads the viewer to closer observation because the items he paints look so real, as if they are 3-dimensional. His subjects reverberate with echoes from the past, while his paintings deliver their message in distinctly contemporary terms.
Born in Santa Barbara, California and living in Idaho, Villa is of Apache and Zapotec heritage.
