| Etcher, painter. Born in Richmond, IN on Feb. 2, 1883.
Winkler moved to southern California in 1908 and had a sign painting business in Long Beach for many years.
A plein-air painter, he often joined his friend Hanson Puthuff on painting trips in the nearby deserts.
By 1928 he had moved to a ranch in Victorville, CA and died there of tuberculosis on March 7, 1933.
