An art educator and painter of national renown, she was known for her sensuously modeled figures. She also made major contributions to art education in the United States as a teacher at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School of Drawing and Painting.
She began her own art education as a student from 1905 to 1913 at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, where she studied with painters Frank Benson, Edmund Tarbell, and Philip Hale. In 1914, she earned the Julia A Shaw prize at the National Academy (showing 500 of 913 characters). |
