Known for her paintings of young children, Camelia Whitehurst was born in Baltimore where she spent most of her life. She studied at the Charcoal Club and at the Pennsylvania Academy with William Merritt Chase and Cecilia Beaux. Then she opened a studio in Paris and traveled throughout Europe.
Following this, she set up studios in Baltimore, living first on North Charles Street, and in 1920 moving to Eutaw Place.
She was a member of numerous art organizations and exhibited widely (showing 500 of 872 characters). |
