| The following biographical information on artist Carl Wingate (1876-1946) is from his obituary published Nov. 1, 1946 page 8 in the Milton Record. “Carl Wingate of 22 Curtis Road died suddenly Sunday [Oct. 27, 1946] at his home. Mr. Wingate was born in Brooklyn 69 years ago and lived in New York for most of his early life. He came to Milton from Marblehead where he had lived for 5 years.
He was a graduate of the National Academy of Design, and Columbia University and he also studied in Paris and Spain. Mr. Wingate was well known as an artist especially for his maritime etchings and he also painted in water colors and pastels.
Private funeral services were held Tuesday at Mt. Auburn Crematory Chapel. He is survived by several cousins among them Miss Edna Carrett with whom he made his home. Currently we do not have any further information about the artist.
