This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Ron Povich:

Carol Wald was an artist from Detroit who also lived in New York.

She was a student of Sam Sarkis at one point and is survived by her husband Herman Tauschart with whom she had lived in Burlington, Ontario, Canada for the last years of her life.

The Butler Museum would be a source for her biography and purchased one of her paintings while she was with us.  She had also been a member of the Scarab Club, behind the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Biography from Butler Institute of American Art:
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Carol Wald came to Burlington, Ontario in 1990, with a career in the Fine and Commercial Arts already established throughout the United States.

A prolific artist since 1954, she has been invited to show her works in over 50 exhibitions in the United States and in Southwestern Ontario.  During the 1970's Wald was a New York illustrator with work appearing on and in Time Magazine, Fortune, Ms. New York, and other publications, as well as on many books and record covers.

She has received over 30 awards, commissions and purchase prizes, including the award for Outstanding Achievement in the Visual Arts from the Michigan Foundation for the Arts, the Key to City of Detroit, and was commissioned to paint America's official bicentennial painting in 1976.

She is also the author of Myth America : Picturing Women, 1865-1945 (New York : Pantheon Books, 1975) and the subject of the monograph Carol Wald : Sequences and Transformations (Academy Chicago Publishers) with an introduction by William J. Withrow, director emeritus of the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Carol Wald's work is many museum collections, most notably the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; the Detroit Institute of Art; Butler Institute of American Art; the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Loretto, Pa; the Museum of American Illustrations New York; and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
