Charles Frederick Whitney was born in Pittston, Maine on June 18, 1858. A painter, illustrator and art teacher, he studied at the Massachusetts State Normal Art School. He specialized in watercolor landscapes and seascapes of the Eastern United States.
Whitney published several books used in art instruction, and taught at the Wheelock School in Boston, Massachusetts. He also taught at the Summer Camp (Camp Vision) at Tamworth, New Hampshire. He exhibited widely in the New England area dur (showing 500 of 1511 characters). |
