| | Charles George Werner was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin in 1909. He studied at the Oklahoma City University and at Northwestern University and was a member of the National Cartoonists Society. Werner was a cartoonist for the "Daily Oklahoman" from 1935-1941, for the "Chicago Sun" from 1941-1947 and for the "Indianapolis Star" from 1947 onwards. He gave lectures in cartooning and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1938 for cartoonist while working at the "Daily Oklahoman". Works of Werner's are a part of the permanent collections of the Huntington Library, the Library of Congress in Washington DC and the White House in Washington DC. |
