The following is from Richard Sommerfeld, a great, great grandson of the artist: Sommerfeld wrote: "I am related to him on my father's side of the family. My oldest son, Evan Walz Sommerfeld, is named after him to keep the family name going. After Walz's death in 1911, my Great Great Grandmother Anna Lorenz Walz moved in with her daughter, Agnes G. Sommerfeld and her husband, Rudolf Gustav Sommerfeld in Spring Hill, Allegheny, PA.
