Biography from Odon Wagner Gallery:
Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data compared to the extensive information about American artists.

Charles Wilda was a leading Austrian Orientalist artist who studied at the Academy of Vienna under Carl Muller.  He produced paintings and etchings during his life.  As an Orientalist, Wilda was attracted to the cultures of North Africa and the Arab states, cultures he felt were exotic and romantic.  He exhibited his work frequently at expositions in Berlin and Vienna between 1887-1906.  Wilda's work was also represented at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900.
