Biography from Modern Art Object:
| Claude Woodruff was born in Hamilton, Michigan but is more closely
associated with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he lived and worked for
many years. Mr. Woodruff studied under George Bridgman, Thomas
Fogerty, Edward Penfield, Charles Buckles Falls, and Charles
Rosen.
He was a teacher at the Pittsburgh Art Institute and wrote and illustrated The Life of Shep, the Farmer's Dog.
His exhibitions include the Art Institute of Chicago in 1926. He was a member of the Society of Illustrators.
