| The following, submitted May 2005, is from James Riggs, artist who knew Dan Wiesendanger and who received this information from Charles Kubasta, life-long friend of Wiesendanger.
Dan Wiesendanger was born June 5th, 1915 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He died July 14th 1996 of prostate cancer in a Los Angeles nursing home near his home. He liked painting abstracts landscapes and depictions of old houses and flowers. he used various mediums including water color, acrylic, oils, charcoal, pen and ink, calligraphy and lithography.
He was an active member of the Pasadena Art Club, the California Art Society and the South West Art Club. His mother was the great-granddaughter of Friedreich Froebel, famed educator, and founder of the kindergarten system. His father immigrated at the age of 16 from Interlochen, Switzerland.
Wiesendanger studied at the Chicago Art Institute and attended art classes at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. |
