Painter. Born in Livermore, ME in 1829.
Dora wed Virgil Williams in Boston in 1871 and came with him to San Francisco in that year. She studied under her husband at the School of Design and became a competent painter.
The local papers gave her still lifes favorable reviews in 1882; however, they called her a failure at portraits with ignorance of anatomy and no knowledge of flesh color. Dora (or Deborah as she was also called) was a close friend of Fannie and Robert Louis (showing 500 of 1417 characters). |
