Elbert Weinberg (1928-1991)
A figurative sculptor, Weinberg often departed from reality to present his own interpretation. His early subjects draw heavily on mythological and Biblical themes. At first, he used to work on one piece at a time-making several drawings, then fashioning a model and after that taking up to nine months to create the actual sculpture, carving it in wood or casting it in bronze. Later on, he sometimes worked on twenty pieces at the same time (showing 500 of 7128 characters). |
