| A painter, designer, and teacher at the Bailey School in Bath, Maine from 1939 to 1946, Elizabeth Winchell was born in Philadelphia and studied with Daniel Garber, Eliot Daingerfield, and W.W. Gilcrist, Jr. She was also at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, exhibited widely in New England, and lived in Freeport, Maine.
She was a member of the Freeport Art Club and the Portland Water Color Society.
