Esther Baldwin Williams (1867-1964)
Born Esther Mabel Baldwin, Dec. 11, 1867, she became a friend and patron of Maurice Prendergast. They often painted together, sometimes in her studio at 92 Mt Vernon Street in Boston, sometimes in Annisquam Massachusetts at her summer house, and sometimes en plein aire. Because of this, one of her paintings was a part of his collection and was at first incorrectly attributed to him, entitled Annie Sargent Jewett (see website of the Archives (showing 500 of 1818 characters). |
