| | Born in Hempstead, Long Island, NY on Dec. 30, 1875. Wickes moved to San Francisco in 1886. At the turn of the century she worked as an artist, but later was a librarian at Stanford Hospital. A spinster, she died there on Jan. 16, 1944.
