Colorado sculptor George Walbye is a product of the Rocky Mountain West, having spent his entire life in the states of Wyoming and Colorado. Born in Rawlins, Wyoming, Walbye lived his early years in that high plains sagebrush country. He spent a number of boyhood summers working on ranches in the area once homesteaded by his grandfather at Whiskey Gap.
