George Wright was born in 1860 in Leeds, England. Together with his brother Gilbert, George taught himself the rudimentary principles of painting. Both Wright brothers found that they excelled at art and went on to become two of the finest sporting artists of their time. In particular, George Wright became well-known for his depiction of hunting and coaching scenes in a style that was representational, or true to nature. Many of Wright’s works were exhibited at prestigious art institutions in England, such as the Royal Academy, where they garnered attention and appreciation throughout his lifetime. |
