| | . Miniaturist. Born in Indiana on Sept. 24, 1873. From a pioneer family, Gertrude's father was one of the framers of the Washington State constitution. Her first art instruction was under Harriett Foster Beecher followed by further study at the Mark Hopkins Institute. For three years she had a studio in San Francisco until the earthquake of 1906 when she returned to the Puget Sound. She then shared a studio in Seattle with Adelaide Hanscom. She died in Tacoma, WA in 1967. Exh: Mark Hopkins Inst.
